TECHNOLOGY
PIONEERING
Inventor and engineering pioneer
for various novel offshore structures and installation procedures,
including:
- Wellspring Float-Through
System: Inventor of Novellent Wellspring
Float-Through System design licensed to J. Ray McDermott Engineering
LLC. This patent pending system employs hydraulic lift and pneumatic
motion compensation for swell condition installations of up to
15,000 ton decks in W. Africa.
- Seabed Storage &
Offloading System: Design developer
for a seabed storage and offloading system under contract with
Conoco Inc. This novel system is capable of economically storing
750,000 bbls at the seabed and employing the riser as a single
anchor leg mooring in 6,000' WD for periodic offloading by a
shuttle tanker.
- Floating Tower: Design developer for Novellent Floating Tower
offshore platform currently under consideration for the Department
of Defense for deepwater radar monitoring station. This patent
pending platform achieves fixed platform type accelerations in
a floating design capable of application to ultra deepwater,
heavy deck, and remote installation applications.
- Loose Slot Floatover: One of two principal inventors of McDermott "Loose
Slot" floatover system. Patent pending on this cost effective
floatover method that provides safer operation over existing
floatover systems.
- Skid-off Floatover: Leader of a task force to develop Spar floatover
alternatives for Exxon Diana project. Developed detailed procedure
for "Skid-off" floatover operation.
- Static Hull Launch: Leader of a task force to develop Spar "Static
Launch" procedures for spar hull installation from a launch
barge.
- Amerada Hess Truss
Spar: Lead Project Naval Architect
for Amerada Hess SPAR preliminary design pioneering the new concept
of a truss SPAR structure in 1,648' W.D.

NAVAL ARCHITECTURE
& MARINE ENGINEERING
Extensive experience in the full
range of naval architecture and marine engineering task related
to the offshore oil field, including:
- Structural Design: Performed detailed engineering for more than
sixty (60) tiedown designs for barges, jackets, decks, piles,
and modules. Conducted structural modeling and API code checks
for various launch barges. Originated conceptual design of a
J-lay support tower.
- Floating Structures: Performed the feasibility study for the conversion
a McDermott pipelay barge to a floating Methanol production barge.
Also performed tanker modeling and motion analysis for an AMOCO
FPSO.
- Fatigue Analysis: Performed transportation fatigue analysis for
numerous structures including Trintomar Pelican jacket and the
trans-Atlantic transportation of the Conoco Main Pass 312C jacket.
- Loadout Analysis: Performed detailed loadout engineering analyses
for several projects including the AEDC Block 486 jacket and
Exxon Mississippi Canyon Block 397A jacket.
- Transportation Seakeeping
Analysis: Performed the seakeeping
and motion analyses for more than thirty (30) offshore structures
including jackets, decks, piles, and modules.
- Launch Analysis: Performed computer simulation and supervised
offshore operations for four (4) jacket, Spar hull, and compliant
tower launches.
